Southwark Labour Group is
the largest group on Southwark council, with 29 councillors. We are proud to be one of the most diverse Labour Groups in the country, representing many of Southwark's
different communities, a with many men and women, young and old, from a range of backgrounds accross the Borough.
The rest of the council chamber is made up of 27 Liberal Democrats, 6 Conservatives and 1 Green councillor. The Leader and the Executive were chosen in a deal done by the Conservatives and Liberal
Democrat councillors to take control of the council. The Liberal Democrats have led the council since 2002. Local people tell us they're tired of this out of touch and arrogant clique who are using
their shady back room deals to foist their agenda on the people of Southwark.
We are campaigning for a council that listens to local people's concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour, that listens to local people's concerns about housing and their local environment.
We're campaigning for a council that delivers more than warm words on climate change. And we're campaigning for a council that means what it says on council tax.
Southwark Labour is led by Cllr Peter John, Councillor for South Camberwell. Labour's Deputy Leader is Cllr Susan Elan Jones, Councillor for The Lane ward.
